What is a Podcast?

Think of podcasting as Internet broadcasting. Podcasts are created and posted to the Web as MP3s. You can download the MP3s to your computer and listen to it as you would any other MP3 without subscribing to the Podcast.

A Podcast is a "feed" of MP3s that are updated regularly. You can use iTunes or other podcast-friendly software to subscribe to podcast feeds and each time a new recording is added to the feed, it is automatically downloaded to your computer.

Using one of the many free podcast reader applications such as the latest version of iTunes you can subscribe to any of thousands of podcasts, and content will be downloaded invisibly as it becomes available. Of course, you can listen to podcasts on any MP3 player, not just iPods.
